History
Randy and Jenny Campbell formed HEAR We Are in September 2008 in an effort to find support for their Deaf infant Aiden Campbell. After establishing a small network of parents, HEAR We Are held its first familial support group on October 25th, 2008. Four families with Deaf children, all seeking information about cochlear implants, participated in this loosely organized gathering. Through word of mouth and media coverage, HEAR We Are has grown tremendously. Reaching families with all forms of hearing loss, this group has re-aligned to provide support and advocacy for all children with any degree of hearing loss, spanning infants to teenagers.

To provide a nurturing environment in a setting that enhances the overall development of children with hearing loss.

Goals/Objectives
Organize monthly meetings for Deaf, HOH and CI (cochlear implanted) children and their families.
Structure educational activities and guest speakers focused on current research and issues revolving around our population.
Provide familial support through networking.
Identify and advocate those issue and situations deemed appropriate and necessary.
Acquire funds through grants, donations and activities.
Provide finacial assistance to appropriately identified candidates.
Fund educational opportunities that advance learning opportunities for our population of children.
Facility
HEAR We Are has and will operate all activities, with exception of off site events, on the campus of St. Alfred’s Episcopal Church located in Palm Harbor, FL. Sufficient space has been provided to facilitate any necessary meeting or group activities. As well, classroom and professional space will be provided, as needed, to provide any educational and therapeutic atmospheres that may evolve from the efforts of HEAR We Are.
